Ludlow Castle

Prepare to be impressed. William the Conqueror of France invaded England in 1066. It was not easy to control England. How did he do it? For 20 years William held onto and consolidated his power by building castles, including Ludlow Castle in 1086. 

Take a tour of the mighty fortress that is Ludlow Castle. Step inside the rooms that were once home to the Spanish princess Catherine of Aragon (wife of King Henry VIII who had 6 wives).  

Afterwards, enjoy exploring the medieval streets of this most beautiful of English towns.

A small city in the countryside, Hereford has a brand new super safe shopping area that students love. The impressive cathedral is home to the Mappa Mundi: the oldest map in the world.

Shrewsbury, Shropshire

Take a scenic drive through the Shropshire Hills and arrive in the hometown of the great biologist Charles Darwin. Shrewsbury is a large but delightful ‘black and white’ medieval town with buildings from the time of William Shakespeare.  A perfect opportunity to experience being in a typically English town.

In 1651 at the Battle of Worcester Oliver Cromwell defeated Charles I in the final battle of the English Civil War. Worcester is a university city with a story to tell. Visit the stunning cathedral. Take a walk by the river Seven, the UK’s longest river. You will also find your favourite large shops here as well as enjoy discovering small independent ones.
